PALO IT's Innovation Lab Head speaks with Channel News Asia on Telemedicine in Web3

What some might call the future of telemedicine, PALO IT Singapore and Zuellig Pharma APAC showcased a prototype of how doctors, caregivers, patients and pharmacetical companies can interact in an immersive environment that could provide more comprehensive access and unprecedented convenience to medical help seekers.

The showcase that was first revealed on Tech Wire Asia  is one of the first in Asia and was part of the 'PALO Innovillage' showcase, PALO IT Singapore's flagship lab crawl earlier this month  during the SWITCH and Singapore FinTech Festival periods.

"Our belief is that when you combine wearables, remote health monitoring and an engaging digital experience you could pretty much replicate the the information the doctor would gather if you were physically present," said Head of Tech Innovation, PALO IT Singapore, Yudesh Soobrayan during an interview by Channel News Asia.

The prototype is a project designed and developed at PALO IT Singapore's innovation lab in partnership with Zuellig Pharma APAC. The potential of this technology lies in the intergration of data from vitals monitoring devices, wearables and other information systems to provide healthcare providers quicker and more accurate diagnoses that would extend existing services across geographical or location barriers without taxing existing healthcare workforce and infrastructures; a global market, according to Global Market Insights, that is expected to hit US$780 billon by 2030.

"It's not hard to imagine how this would dramatically enhance cross-border post patient care and improve healthcare access for the masses; from patient who have difficulty travelling to the busy PMEBs who spends a lot of time working and travelling in metropolitan cities. In a report from Gartner, “by 2024, healthcare providers that have adopted a digital health platform approach will outpace competition and partners by 80% in the speed of digital transformation and new feature implementation. If remote health care and monitoring is going to be way more prevalent than what it is today, it makes sense to prepare now," head of marketing, PALO IT Singapore Joshua Kwah.

The project is undergoing further iterations and both companies are exploring more integrations and feature developments in the year ahead.
